Preparing a case starts with a consistent set of information. Saying “I am owed five thousand pounds” does not establish the basis of the claim or any repayments already made.
Prepare the basis for a quote
Organise your documents using the lawyer’s checklist. Establish what the quote covers and which stage of the case it includes.
What might the cost include?
Ask for separate figures for the assessment, further work, court fees, translations and possible enforcement costs. These items depend on the procedure chosen. Check whether the offer covers only a specific stage and what happens if the claim is disputed or unsuccessful.
A judgment and recovering money are separate stages
Even a favourable judgment does not show that the debtor will pay or has accessible assets. Before making a substantial payment, compare the claim’s value, available asset information and risks. A universal price or recovery deadline cannot fairly be given without assessing the documents.
Do not send documents or third-party details in comments under a post. Agree a secure channel and the scope of material needed.
Next step
Start with our UK–Poland debt recovery guide. Briefly describe your situation so that the scope of possible assistance can be established. Do not post the debtor’s details or documents in a public comment. Requires individual legal assessment.
